Spacious, clean home in a beautiful serene setting

Stayed 3 nights in August. We thought the log home was actually bigger than the photos suggested. From the slippers provided for guests' use to the well-equipped spacious kitchen, it was a lovely place to return to at the end of the day. I would recommend the newly opened Kannery Grill just down the road (more expensive but much more delicious tasting food than many in town or on the Spit). Also, the Halibut Cove trail across the Bay (water taxi required) is an easy and beautiful wooded hiking trail (4.5 mi round trip) culminating at a glacier lake.

Wonderful home

We had a last minute mess up in our plans and contacted the owner Kent, who was more than willing to help us out! He met us at the home and made us feel very welcome! Very charming cabin and beautiful views!

This place is awesome! Acclaimed View Cabin is a well deserved name. Clean and comfortable. It was more than our crew of four could ask for. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a place to stay and explore the lower Kenai Peninsula.

Excellent Views, Great ameninities, Clean and Close to Homer

The cabin was an excellent choice. We have stayed in many places around Homer but Kent's cabin was the excellent location for great views and easy access to Homer. The cabin was clean, comfortable and move in ready. We would try to stay here every time we come back! Thanks for the hospitality and the great memories.

Peaceful and Private

Very nice, clean home. I'm sure there are beautiful views of the mountains, but it was cloudy the whole time we were there. We did see a family of Sandhill Cranes in the yard a few times. Kent greeted us upon our arrival and was available to help with anything we needed. He was very accommodating with our changes and he also responded to text/emails very quickly. We would stay there again.

Incredible Views

The cabin offered beautiful views of Cook's inlet, the mountains and volcano. The cabin was extremely nice and clean with plenty of room for our family. Kent was very helpful and took time to give us hints on how to make our stay even better. I would recommend this cabin to others and plan to return in the future.

Great cabin with fantastic views of Cook Inlet

The cabin was all that promised. Three of us stayed there for a week while we were fishing. It is a beautiful cabin, spotlessly clean with all the amenities that you could ask for. The owner is just down the road and always readily available for any questions or assistance you might need. The views from the cabin are beautiful, with Redoubt volcano and Cook Inlet right out the windows. We had two sandhill cranes and a chick feeding in the yard. We could not have found a better place and been more comfortable. Homer and the Spit are just a short drive down the road with views of Kachemak Bay and the Spit that are world famous. We would recommend this cabin as a first choice for any stays in the Homer area. After catching our limit of halibut, Paddy's restaurant on the Spit cooked up some of our fresh halibut and rock fish for a fantastic dinner

Unbelievable views of the ocean with sun settings. Kent was very welcoming and was just a call away if you had any questions. location was great, just a few minutes outside of Homer. We would recommend Kent and his cabin to anyone.

Great experience - Kristi N.

I thoroughly recommend this property and Kent to anyone looking to stay in Homer. He was very available and friendly. the property was beautiful and I didn't feel bad spending a couple days of our vacation being lazy and staying at the house. I also liked watching the sandhill cranes and pheasant that were hanging around the property

Loved this base for our Homer stay.

Kent's log home is a great place to vacation out of; it is in an upper neighborhood in the hills overlooking Homer; plenty of privacy, yet not isolated. A lot of windows, a lot of room, and everything you need. We stayed 4 nights. :)

My dad's favorite!

Last summer we started our vacation in Kent's cabin. Clean, cozy & comfortable for the 4 of us. It made a great base camp where we could relax and cook our meals. Of all the places we stayed, this was my 93-year old dad's favorite. He still talks about how nice the log cabin was!

Homer visit

We flew in from New England and spent two weeks at the cabin, Kent was very kind to us, he meet us at the car rental when we landed to show us the ay to the cabin/home, and showed us around the house and property which are kept clean. Kent also kept in contact with us to make sure all our needs were being meet. The home has beautiful views of the bay and stunning sunsets and is very comfortable. We also got some visits by a set of Moose twins and a steller jay. We walked the road and meet many of the neighbors, who also were friendly. We enjoyed our stay and are planning on a return visit in the summer of 2015.

Must stay

The cabin is spectacular!!! The view is incredible. I was dreading the day we had to leave. Still find myself wishing I was back at the cabin with the geourgous view. When the sun set it was out of this world. I definitely recommend staying at Acclaimed log cabin. I plan on returning in the future!!!! :) Kent was very helpful and there whenever you needed him. He keeps that cabin clean and so comfortable. Even had a huge basket of house slippers!!!

Home away from Home

We were so delighted with the views and the location from this Home. It's situated in a quite and peacefull area and very short drive from Homer. There was enough space for all eight of us. We enjoyed every moment there. The owner welcomed us and advised us about the attractions around Homer. He was kind enough to even replace the BBQ with a new one. We will definitely consider this place if we visit Homer again. Thanks.

Space, comfort and view!

We recently spent 3 nights in the Cozy Pad while other family members stayed in the cabin above. It was so convenient to have our own space while still being with family members close by. The cabin and Cozy Pad are both so comfortable with beautiful views of the Cook Inlet. It has a true feel of Alaska and all the comforts of home! In comparing this cabin with other accommodations available in the Homer area we felt like we got the absolute best value for money. Thank you for a wonderful visit.

Outstanding Accomodations!!

Any trip to Homer, Alaska, we will definitely be calling owner Kent Redmon to rent this home! Super clean, roomy, comfortable home. Private and beautiful. Close enough to town, but far enough away for a country atmosphere. Clear days gave a great view of the ocean and the volcano, St. Augustine. Kent was very accommodating for our families requests. He also had sightseeing pamphlets, restaurant recommendations, and tons of Homer literature that helped us plan our stay in Homer. Staying at the cabin just made our visit that much more enjoyable. We highly recommend this listing!

Fantastic stay in Homer

We had an absolutely wonderful stay in this home in Homer. The home has a very warm, relaxing and welcoming feel about it. Myself, husband and 3 boys really enjoyed it and didn't want to leave. We stayed for 4 nights. The home is well stocked with everything you need - including some great spices. The owner Kent was really welcoming and is happy to share info about the area. He has lots of brochures in the house which is very convenient. The home had plenty of space for all of us and the views really were incredible. We saw sandhill cranes everyday and some moose came wandering up the driveway one evening. Guests will need a car as it is a little bit outside of town - about 15 minutes. We found it very convenient and liked this location better than town as a place to stay after hiking and fishing all day. The only thing that could make it any better is on site laundry but the local laundromat was nice and not a big deal to use. Thanks Kent for opening your home to us.

Great vacation house!

My family and I stayed at this great home for six nights while visiting Homer. The view was amazing. The house was spacious, clean, comfortable, and the owner was great to deal with when making arrangements. I have two children ages 8 and 5, the house was perfect for them. The house was located just outside of Homer, about a 5 minute drive. I would definetly recommend this home if you are looking for a place to stay in Homer.

Awesome rental

We really enjoyed our stay at this cabin rental. It was perfect for our family of five. It is close enough to everything we wanted to do while visiting the area. Kent was a wonderful host. He was very friendly and helpful. He made many recommendations for dining which we were very pleased with. He made sure everything in the cabin was to our approval. We couldn't ask for a better place to stay. We highly recommend staying here. You won't be disappointed. Thanks so much Kent for a memorable vacation!!!!

Beautiful property with great access

We enjoyed a very comfortable stay at the cabin. The property has a spectacular view and wonderful open format on the main level that ended up being a perfect place to while away a rainy afternoon and enjoy each other's company in the evenings. The owner takes exceedingly good care of the property and clearly takes great pride in its cleanliness and comfort. Fireweed literally covered the hillsides, and sandhill cranes visited us more than once. A short drive to the nature center, spit and plenty of hiking options made this a perfect place for our two-family vacation as we went in different directions during the days we stayed. This would be an ideal "base camp" for groups ranging out or splitting up on different itineraries to explore the southern Kenai or embarking on trips from Homer.

My family of 5, plus one pet, stayed at this cabin for 2 nights in early July. The owner, Kent, is very easy to work with and quite helpful. We had a great experience staying at this cabin and were quite comfortable. The cabin is spacious, clean, and up to date. The kitchen has everything you could need, the bathroom upstairs is very nice, and the beds were also comfy. The views toward the Bay are breathtaking! We took advantage of nearby hiking trails as well. I highly recommend this cabin!!

We really enjoyed our stay at your beautiful log cabin. We took advantage of a few of the excursions available on the Homer Spit and did a lot of walking and hiking. We also enjoyed cooking meals and hanging out "at home" in our comfortable abode. Views from the house are indeed spectacular. Thank you for a fantastic stay.

We spent a week in this lovely log cabin enjoying the spectacular views and the cozy, comfortable ambiance. Homer is wonderful, but we felt special driving up to our hilltop aerie. The home is spacious and full of light and only a 15-20 minute drive to the Homer Spit. We took a couple of walks in the area and saw a moose and there were sand hill cranes in our front yard one afternoon!

Very nice cabin. Incredible views. Saw moose, cranes, jays, rabbits in the yard and nearby brush. Excellent views across the bay of Mt. Redoubt and the rest of the Alaska range. Would stay again in a heartbeat, if only Alaska weren't so far away. This cabin is actually a few miles from Homer up the hill but you will want that, esp. if you have a rental car. Was very clean and well-maintained and owner quite helpful in answering questions and available by cell phone in the area if we needed help - called to alert us that a moose was visible from the cabin. Would recommend Two Sisters Bakery, the Sealife Visitors center, and driving out the East End Road for even more incredible views of the mountains and glaciers across Kachemak Bay.

What a beautiful cabin to spend our time in Homer. Very comfortable and clean. Kent was very nice to work with and was there for us in a pinch. Such a lovely place to stay. We had 8 people and had a lot of room to spread out. We will definately be back the next trip to Homer!!!

Kent went above and beyond beginning with my earliest conversations with him. My husband and I felt as though we were dealing with a friend rather than just another business man. He even made arrangements for us to stay at another property when we decided at the last minute to come to town a day early and his Acclaimed View Cabin was already booked. Now that we are here in the cabin, we don't want to leave! This cabin is equipped with everything from slippers to cooking supplies and seasonings and cookbooks to videos and a grill. The photos on the website don't do justice to the bright, warm and comfortable cabin. It exceeded my expectations by a long shot. And then there's the view...unsurpassable! You need not get off the couch to enjoy the beautiful scenery, including Cook Inlet, volcanoes, and snow capped mountain peaks. Even the kitchen table provides expansive views. You will not be disappointed in Acclaimed View, nor the service provided by its owner, Kent.

We totally enjoyed our stay 20 – 27 July 2010. An excellent location, peaceful and quite. It’s about 5 miles to Homer and the fishing was great. From our cabin we saw wildlife every day, and you don’t know how big a moose really is until you see one walking up the drive way. We also saw many pods of whales in view from the picture window facing Cooks inlet. The cabin is very clean, cozy with many amenities, to include field glasses, great books, study guides and family games. I have stayed in many cabins in other states…but this is far the best ever. “We will be back” again soon.

This was just perfect for a mini-reunion, having everyone under one roof, the ability to cook their Halibut catch, not to undermind the cleanliness, good location, and spectacular views. I found myself truly relaxing and loving the wildlife. The weather was absolutely perfect the whole time as well. Couldn't have asked for anything more. I wouldn't hesitate to return or recommend this property. Loved it!
